Overview
The customer (Fyffes Bananas) is a global perishable food distributor. They required a system that could monitor arriving HGV’s, provide effective perimeter protection and ensure health & safety compliance on the distribution floor.
The Requirements
The site had a small number of legacy cameras that were no longer fit for purpose. A business critical requirement, the required system would need to provide high definition images for the identification of lorries and number plates on the distribution channel approach. It would also need to secure the fenced perimeter as well as the building
perimeter, providing high definition images at key areas around the building. Internally, high traffic and distribution floor areas would require observation and identification level CCTV for health & safety reasons.
The Solution
A 32-channel Hikvision Network Video Recorder with a series of POE switches located around site provided central management of the cameras, with power and data provided via CAT5e.
A mixture of static (vandal resistant) dome cameras, 360 degree fisheyes and functional Pan, Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras were located around the site to provide sufficient coverage.
Low-light technologies were employed where light-levels were insufficient and where infra-red was deemed ineffective.
The Benefit
The client now benefits from a High Definition IP HD CCTV system that gives key personnel real-time coverage of key areas around site. The system provides an overt CCTV presence externally to deter potential intruders and effective internal coverage to mitigate health & safety concerns. The Fyffes Operations Manager explains, ‘we approached a number of companies to design a suitable CCTV system. I was impressed by FTL Secure Solutions’ attention to detail and understanding of the project brief. The standard of work has been excellent and the project was on time and on budget. I look forward to working with FTL on future projects.’
